PRESIDENT'S PAGE

Happy belated New Year's all, hope it's off to a good start for you.
I'm looking forward to serving as your President for the next 2 years, working with Steve Holford, your new VP, and bringing fun exciting things and hopefully more painting to each meeting. Plan on bringing your paints, sketching materials, whatever, to the meetings.
Hopefully we will have time to do something at each meeting.

Don't forget Patterns of Influence juried show is coming up. Intake will be
Jan 25-27th, 12pm-6pm Fri and Sat, 12-5pm on Sunday. In the past FAA usually needs a few volunteers for intake, so if you can help them out, call 456-6485.

Also, in March is Art Expo 2013, Saturday March 9th from 11am-6pm.

FWS normally has a booth there, promoting the Watercolor Society and answering
questions the public may have. We will be needing members to sit at our booth if you can volunteer a few hours.

Nikki Kinne will be our program presenter on Wed.  I understand that she will be presenting a talk on Photoshop, not sure of exactly what. I suppose if you have a laptop with Photoshop you can bring it and follow along.

See ya Wed the 16th !!
Thanks,
Matt Moberly

NELDA’S NOTES:

Well, the New Year is here.  Ta Da!!  Time now to do all the things you put off during the holidays (or rather I did!).

Firstly, is to remind everyone that Dues for 2013 are Due.  I’m anxious to check the post office, as I know most of you must have printed out the membership form in the Dec. newsletter, and mailed in your check, or paid at the meeting.  And….if any of you have any questions about what it will take to bring you up to date through 2013, just give me a call at 456-3329.   Thank you! in advance.  It is very important for your dues to be current, so we can pay all our little bills and cover expenses for the upcoming show and workshop.  Which brings me to….

Secondly,  I’m including the guidelines for our annual March show, which is much the same as last year, and the entry forms and info sheet for the paintings you will enter.  As we’ve mentioned a few times, the theme this year is“Vintage Alaska”.  Which can mean just about anything old….  Scenes, landscapes, buildings, cars, trucks, equipment, trees, old bottles, clothing, hair-do’s and of course, people.  I think we can have a lot of fun with this theme, and it will be interesting to see what we all come up with.  That’s why I love helping with intake.  This year it will be on Feb. 23rd, noon to 5pm at Well Street.  It will be exciting… remember: watermedia, since we are a watercolor society, which means watercolor or acrylic.

Thirdly, I wanted to remind you about our web site. www.fairbankswatercolor.org  I was checking it out last night, and the newsletters through November and the Ticklers are posted in a blog.  Really easy to read.  I think the print is a little bigger than here and it’s easy to find.  We will get forms on there for the show.

AND,  As soon as we have a signed contract for the Joe Garcia Workshop. May 13-17, we will have the forms on the site as well.  I expect that in early February.  (By next newsletter)

I kind of squished the Guidelines, so it would take up less space here.  I have also attached the Guidelines to this newsletter, (if you want a bigger copy) and the Artist Painting Forms for you and your paintings.  Pretty self-explanatory.
